Wear leather gloves when performing the following steps. First, unspool the winch and pull out approximately 2 feet of cable. Next, remove the hairpin and release the clevis pin from the winch hook. Then, take off the four bolts that are securing the two halves of the split cable hook stopper together. Place the cable or rope between the two halves and reattach the four bolts, making sure to tighten them.
Afterwards, reattach the hook to the cable end. To stow the hook, engage the clutch and retract the cable onto the winch spool until the hook is snug against the hook stopper and fairlead. When using the winch, position the hook stopper at approximately 3/4 of the total line distance towards the hook.
The package includes 1 winch stopper, made of rubber that is water-repellent and abrasion-resistant. This winch stopper is designed for use on trucks, Jeeps, SUVs, ATVs, UTVs, ORVs, vehicles, boats, and cars.
The purpose of the winch stopper is to avoid the cable from pulling the hook down to the bottom, preventing the hook from getting jammed into the roller. This helps eliminate wear and tear on the roller from the hook, as well as reduces noise when the winch is in operation. The winch stopper is suitable for all steel ropes, wires, and synthetic cables up to 15/32 inches (12mm) in diameter, allowing the ATV winch cable to run freely and slide while keeping the line tidy. Protect your winching gear like never before with this effective and durable accessory.
